Mike Kungl
After completing his education in fine art and graphic design Mike Kungl went on to achieve a successful career in advertising. Spending nearly two decades creating award winning logos, package design and illustrations for companies such as Panasonic, Johnson & Johnson, Toshiba and Nissan Motors, Kungl then focused on fine art full time. Drawing inspiration from European graphic painter A. M. Cassandre and American industrial designers Raymond Loewy and Henry Dreyfuss, Mike Kungl was influenced by these designers’ dramatic take on the Art Deco and Streamline styles. Kungl’s own spin on the deco/streamline movement evolved quickly and soon into his new career, Kungl’s influence went beyond his Southern California beginnings as he gained notoriety on both coasts of the United States. Within just two years he was selected to create the official artwork for Miami Beach’s 25th annual Art Deco Weekend. The Miami honor is just one of many in a succession of developments that highlight Kungl’s growing reputation as a recognized collectible artist.
